Unconscious Triggers
Most people respond unconsciously to trigger behaviours from others. Think of the last time a partner, parent or sibling criticised you. Did you take a deep breath and respond calmly? Or did you feel stress and REACT immediately before you had a chance to think? If you reacted, it’s likely because of a deeply ingrained habitual behaviour. If you think back to similar situations in your life, you’ll probably realise that you can be counted on to react just that way every time you are criticised causing you stress.
What happens to us in these situations? Why can’t we change the way we react even if we want to? It’s because our behaviour is being stirred up directly from the unconscious.
Here’s what happens
The untrained mind reacts from the unconscious. It instantaneously provides a judgement or comparison about the person, people or event (this is based not on current reality but built from our past experience). We accept that judgement as fact. Then we output behaviour based on it.
And it can happen fast as lightning.
Often, the regrets and more stress and worry come after the fact. We wish we had not said or done that, or realise that we could have behaved more appropriately.
That’s where NLP comes in. It is designed to bring unconscious behaviour into the conscious mind so we can choose whether to behave that way or not. What freedom! What a relief!
That’s why we’d like to invite you to our very popular introductory NLP course, NLP Foundation Skills.
When you take NLP Diploma, we will help you break those cycles and teach you how to create a space between your perceptions and your unconscious behaviours. This enables you to develop habits that empower your life and bring you confidence and happiness.

How things can change using NLP
Now let’s revisit that incident where you just got criticised. Here’s what will happen when you learn the powerful NLP techniques we teach you…
Your unconscious mind instantaneously provides a judgement or comparison about the person, people or event, based on past experiences. But this time, you will have the tools to create a thought gap so that you can pause and become conscious of the current situation.
As a result, you’ll make a better choice based on an outcome you want, not based on an automatic reaction. You’ll output a behaviour that will take you towards your desired outcome. You’ll become more confident in yourself, and able to create the life you want.
You see, the more in charge of your behaviour you become, the more the world around you responds positively to you. It’s still a cycle…but now it’s not a vicious one.
